Memory: Friendship in Domremy
So the friends lived in Domremy, the small, out-of-the-way village. Jeanne, always brusque, works hard alongside her father Jacques, who was both farmer and doyen. Roger, the amnesiac who had wandered into the town and been taken in, is put to work by Jacques. And Liane watches over both of them. She loves her friends; Jeanne acts as though she does not care about Roger, but the affection is clear to Liane.
For Liane, the days are long and warm, talking with the two. There are woods nearby, with a creek, and they sometimes stop to chat along the quiet scene. But most of all, when there is ingredients enough, Liane makes her sweets and shares with them. Jeanne does not give thanks -- rather, she questions the practicality, but keeps savoring the food. Roger does thank her, all smiles, and Liane is glad to have made her friends happy.
